How to Plan a Yosemite National Park Elopement With Your Photographer

FILED IN: Tips

Are you a couple hoping to elope here soon? Per my couples, one of the most seemingly intimidating places to plan an elopement in California is the beautiful Yosemite Valley. Why? Because there are a few state hoops you need to jump through and there is some scheduling involved, but DON’T WORRY! I have a list of my top tips to successfully schedule an elopement in Yosemite National Park with your photographer below!

  1. Research the best time of year to visit Yosemite National Park for your elopement. Keep in mind that different seasons will offer different scenery and experiences, such as spring for wildflowers or fall for colorful foliage.
  2. Decide on the location for your elopement ceremony. Yosemite National Park offers a variety of options, such as meadows, waterfalls, and scenic vistas. Research and choose a location that fits your desired aesthetic and level of accessibility.
  3. Obtain a permit from the National Park Service. Yosemite National Park requires a permit for any wedding or elopement ceremony held within the park. The permit process can take several months, so be sure to plan accordingly.
  4. Hire a reputable Yosemite National Park elopement photographer. Look for someone with experience shooting in the park and who has a portfolio that aligns with your desired aesthetic.
  5. Plan and book your transportation, accommodation and any other services you may need.
  6. Finally, create a timeline for your elopement day and share it with your photographer, this will help them to know when and where to be and how to plan the shoot.
  7. Have a great elopement day!
